Spooky Cocktail

I feel like the best parties start with a great cocktail. Bonus points if there are costumes involved! With Halloween knocking at our door, I have a mysterious cocktail recipe for you, which will delight any adult. Here are the deets!

Blackberry Margaritas

Makes about eight margs.

Ingredients

1/4 cup demerara sugar or coarse black sugar

3 limes cut into wedges

1 to 1 1/2 cups tequila

3/4 cup blackberry brandy

3/4 cup triple sec

3/4 fresh lime juice

1/2 cup powdered sugar

2 6 oz. cartons of fresh blackberries (thoroughly wash and dry first)

Bamboo appetizer skewers

How to make this delicious cocktail:

Place eight margarita glasses in the freezer (next to your champagne flutes - ha!) until cold.

In a pitcher (make it a black, scary one!), combine tequila, brandy, triple sec, lime juice, and powdered sugar.

Mix the fresh berries in a blender and strain out the seeds. Add this berry good fruit to the alcohol mix and stir.

Take the glasses out of the freezer. Place demerara or black sugar on a plate. Rub the rims of the margarita glasses with a lime wedge. Dip rims in the sugar.

Add ice cubes to each glass. Pour the blended mixture over the cubes. Style note: It could be extra fun to have Halloween-style ice cube trays for making eerie cubes.

Garnish each glass with a fresh lime wedge, a skewer of fresh blackberries, and prepare to go dark and scary.
