Two Highlights in Tucson

What do you think of when you hear the word Arizona? No, not the iced tea! ha! I think of the mountains, the desert, turquoise jewelry and golf resorts you simply can’t find anywhere else.

The last time I was in Arizona, I visited Sedona and experienced a spiritual journey, to say the least! Recently, I visited Tucson and it was one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had in the unique state. As your adventure stylist, I’m going to share two of my favorite Arizona activities that I think you’ll love.

1) Hike Sabino Canyon

In the Santa Catalina Mountains Ranger District, there are amazing hikes that are both physically challenging and easily walkable. I hiked the Esperero trail, which ascends into the high peaks of the Coronado National Forest. The cacti were prolific and the creek I walked along was incredibly peaceful especially after I was guided through a meditation on the side of the mountain with the gurgling creek right by my feet. When I reached the Sabino Canyon, I was feeling a bit uneasy and I wondered whether there was a vortex such as the one I experienced in Sedona. Sure enough, I was right! Catalina Alpine Vortex is what it’s called. You can feel it as you pass thru it if you hike in far enough. It was a beautiful spiritual experience for me, a happy one not like the somewhat frightening one I had in Sedona. Ha!

2) Buy Real Turquoise Jewelry

I was on the look out for a cool turquoise ring and was prompted to shop at a store called, MAC’s Indian Jewelry. The storefront isn’t fancy, but walk inside and you’ll be amazed by all the cases of turquoise jewelry and pottery displayed and produced by the Navajo Indians. I found what I was looking for and nabbed a pretty piece of pottery, too! If you’d like help shopping for turquoise, Just Ask

Enjoy the desert!
