Mana Country - Part 1

Ready for a trip of a lifetime? Jet off to the French Polynesian Islands with me in this 3-part series.

Sorry to say, but the travel part of this adventure is a pain, especially during these Covid times. So be prepared by reading all of the most recent Covid-19 testing protocols in accordance with the newest CDC update. Yes, ugh! But when you arrive you’ll say, “Ahhhhh!”

Wherever you’re jetting from, be prepared for long layovers and delays. This doesn’t sound like much fun right now, does it? Ha! But just wait until you arrive. You’ll achieve that majestic life force called Mana. It’s the spirit of the French Polynesia islands, their’ people, and their culture.

Some helpful hints when traveling to the islands:

The best time to travel is May through October for a dryer and more temperate climate.

The primary language is French. Mais oui!

Bring a few pareus (aka a sarong for women!) and bathing suits/trunks. Need some suggestions? Just Ask!

No need to exchange USD into the French Pacific Franc. All major credit cards are welcome.

Remember to pack an electrical converter with an adapter as the currents are 220 volts.

Tipping is not customary.

Black Tahitian pearls are a notable souvenir but you can get ripped off so be cognizant of that before purchasing.

Purchase international travel insurance and emergency evacuation coverage. I use Travelex Insurance and Medjet for peace of mind.

Don’t forget your vaccination card. Have a hard copy in your carry-on and a digital one on your phone. I kept my vaccination card in my passport for easy access.

Bring your own snorkel gear if you’re particular about your face mask, otherwise, most companies provide the equipment.

Pack water shoes. I love my Keen’s! They’re like big flippers. Ha!

Book a jet lag massage upon your arrival.

And don’t forget the bug spray. Or you can rub a certain Tahitian plant on your body.

Next stop: Moorea!
