Glacier Trek Packing List

I’m gearing up for my next big adventure—a glacier trek in Alaska! Although my guide will provide the ice creepers, I doubt he’ll have an “R” bag filled to the brim with all the essentials I’ll need for a smooth walk along the ice. So, I’ll pack my own.

Here’s what I’m planning on bringing in my glacier trekking “R” bag:

  • Moleskin for the prevention of blisters! I’ll apply before trekking and re-apply if I feel a hot spot on my foot.
  • Individual alcohol wipes to clean any areas of foot irritation before applying my moleskin or Compeed blister pads.
  • TiZo sunscreen to protect my face.
  • Excedrin Migraine should all the looking for crevasses cause head pain.
  • Ziploc bags for bringing back some glacial ice for a cocktail or two!
  • Individual foam toe cushion protectors to help aid sore toes before hiking.
  • Halls menthol cough drops to ease any dry throat from all the exploring of the moulins.
  • Burt’s Bees lip shimmer to avoid any chapped lips and to help shine my smile wide for those amazing photo ops on the glacial terrain.

With an "R” bag in hand, your adventure stylist (that’s me!) will return with a slew of Alaskan activities to recommend. If you’ve got an adventure coming up, Just Ask me and I’ll help you put your own customized “R” bag together.

Can’t wait for the dogsledding!
