End of Summer Celebrations!

No one wants summer to end. So to prolong the season, I recommend celebrating in style as long as you can! With kids going back to school or grown-ups getting back to the grind at work, there are many fun ways to make the end of summer seamless and not so sad and final.

Back to school shopping is always a fun activity – I particularly like going to Target to purchase supplies like binders, notebooks, folders, pens and trendy hanging wall items for those dingy dorm rooms. For securely adhering posters and photos to room walls, I highly recommend the Command Brand strips, which affix things firmly. I have a whole slew of college packing ideas and lists for those who’d like to know. All you have to do is just ask!

I also recommend celebrating summer by having a farewell dinner party or dance party. What is of utmost importance for an energetic celebration is to have good music. A great wireless sound system such as Sonos or Airplay on your HDTV will get your party started right! Woohoo! If you’re a Report regular, you know how I like listening to music while I cook. But something you might now know is when I take a break, I’ll just pick up my hula-hoop, which is strategically placed close by, and hoop away! Why not ask your party guests to bring hula hoops? Of course, to make a great party your invited guests are very important – be sure to invite a great mix of friends and family. And lastly, don’t forget to serve a celebration cake! The best celebration cake that my family and friends enjoy is the confetti cake from Susie Cakes. I go to the one on Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park, but they have different locations around the Bay Area. Extremely scrumptious cakes! Frosting is my favorite sugar high and Susie Cakes is the best I’ve ever had (except for my own, of course! Ha.) One of my other favorite farewell desserts is called, The Great Chocolate Dessert – catchy, isn’t it? It’s a brownie, chocolate mousse, Heath bar and whipped cream decadent delight that is presented in a trifle dish. Want to hear more about it and learn how to make it? Just ask!

Those are just a few of my fun and fashionable ideas to put some "wow" into your end-of-summer good-byes. If you’d like me to help plan your next celebration or special occasion, I’d be happy to assist.

Happy end of summer!
