With spring upon us (I know you East Coasters need some relief!), it's time to trade your drab winter clothes and accessories for more of a bouncy, relaxed look. Don’t have the time or know where to begin? I can help, just ask!
I like to start with my jackets first. The long, soccer field jackets can go in the back of my closet so I can make room in the front for my blue and white jean jackets. Side note: don't worry about wearing white before Memorial Day, that's an old-fashioned rule! Jean jackets can go with just about everything nowadays. Yes, even with a cute lbd! A formal outfit can casually be displayed with a jean jacket – trust me, it screams, "trés chic!"
As another spring outerwear option, I, also adore the preppy navy blue blazer with gold buttons. I'm a true Parisian wannabe when it comes to the look of a striped blue and white t-shirt under a blue blazer coupled with white jeans. It's such a classic look!
Another look that’s really in for spring is the tuxedo jacket. Either ebony with black lapels or simply all black, the tuxedo jacket is a show-stopper! I'm looking forward to wearing my white and black one with a pair of skinny jeans. A little fancy with a little casual makes for a fashionable outfit and for a fun night out! And don't forget the pop of color! Wear brightly colored shoes or throw a brightly colored bag over your shoulder.
Speaking of bags, I think it’s always a good idea to be creative with your selection. On one trip I used an orange, blue and light green braided plastic Parisian grocery bag and no one knew it had been used for groceries! Go through your bag collection and try using the unusual ones in an ordinary way this spring. You’ll be surprised at how easily you can makeshift one unusual bag into a completely different styled bag. Be confident and rock it!
Another piece of stylish advice is to have bags within bags. What I mean is, make sure you have a little pouch in your big bag with essentials such as Band-Aids, mints, artificial sweetener (I use Truvia which isn't found in many coffee shops), a granola bar, an Emergen C' packet and more! It’s an easy way to find the things you use the most. Plus, you can easily transfer the little bag to any big bag.
And don't forget about spring make-up essentials such as mascara, concealer, bronzer and a lip gloss. These can go in a little bag of their own. My special secret product is The Everything Pencil! Yes, it conceals everything. A hot tip about using mascara…I use Shocking by YSL in black followed by a coat of Lash Genius. No more smudgy mascara marks under your eyes. Trust me, this totally works because it's waterproof. The last item in my make-up bag inside my big bag, is "this works: turbo balm." It acts like a lip moisturizer, a tamer for fly away hair and dry cuticles. This is truly da bomb! If you'd like to learn more about which bag essentials to pack for every type of trip, just ask!
