Hanging Out In Style

Who enjoys tasty appetizers, stylish touches and great company? Me! Whether it’s a tailgate or a casual at home get-together with friends, fun and fashionable is always the way to go. I have some party tips for setting the mood and a crowd-pleasing recipe that will truly inspire you to send out some invites. Remember the holidays are right around the corner!

Beautiful Blossoms
Cut and gather some of the blossoms from your garden (or the florist) and arrange them on your tables. It’s an effortless way to spruce up any table or counter space. Whether you scatter them or place them in vases, flowers are a beautiful hello to your guests.

Flickering Candles
Glowing votives, tapers or pillars are always a pleasing sight in bathrooms, on tables, and even on your bar area. I like to use different sizes in white and love how the glimmering glow adds to any conversation. Be sure to select unscented options as to not annoy any guest’s senses.

Fun Music
Great tunes always add excitement to a party. Even if you’re at a tailgate, bring a speaker and sway to the music while cheering for your team. Create a diverse playlist so that all of your guests can enjoy some music from Van Morrison to Drake! If you need help, Just Ask me for suggestions!

Pretty Platters
Even for the simplest of appetizers, I always use the cutest dishes and serving platters. Like I always say, presentation is key! Use that adorable ceramic oblong dish you bought in Florence and place cornichons, Marcona almonds and olives on it! I truly believe that if food is presented on a fun and fashionable platter, it will be gone before you know it. Try it!

Delicious Apps
Below is a yummy recipe that’s great at a tailgate or at home for the holidays. This creamy dip idea is from my sister who serves it on crackers or on toasted baguette slices. Yum!

Crabmeat Dip

Ingredients
8 oz cream cheese (I use light and make sure it’s softened)
2 tsp of minced onions (you can use dried, but I prefer fresh)
6 oz of fresh crabmeat (if it’s not in season, canned is fine)
1/2 tsp of horseradish
1 Tbsp milk (I use non-fat)
Slivered almonds
Crackers or a baguette

Mix all the above ingredients together, place in a baking dish, sprinkle almonds on top and place in a 375 degree preheated oven for 15-20 minutes. Serve alongside crackers or a sliced baguette. You can make this dip right before you head to a tailgate and cover it in tin foil so it’s still nice and warm.

Enjoy hanging out!
