As your adventure stylist, I have some great new travel trips for your next visit to NYC.
Parade Planning
First and foremost, if you’re going to visit Manhattan for Thanksgiving to watch the Macy’s Day Parade, it’s not too early (and highly recommended!) to book a room at the Mandarin Oriental New York. Request a room overlooking Columbus Circle for the best view of the parade. No joke! You can even hear the marching bands brilliant performances. If you’re a snoozer and all the parade route viewing rooms are booked, the Mandarin also offers the ballroom for parade viewing and they’ll even serve breakfast treats, mimosas and coffee. And while you’re planning, be sure to book your traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the 21 Club and hobnob with the best (that means no jeans and sneakers! Ha!).
Artsy Eating
Now, for a great new restaurant, I recommend Frevo. It looks like an art gallery from the street, but when you walk in a host will arrive behind a cool painting and welcome you into the bar seating only restaurant. The chef and sous chef prepare an exquisite 5-course pre-fixe menu right in front of you. Choose the premier wine pairing with each course as it complements the meal phenomenally. It’s simply divine! Don’t spoil your dinner by eating throughout the day as this is a neo-speakeasy eating experience. But it’s not close to being free, though. Ha! Or, for another dining option head to the Meatpacking District and try Catch New York with dancing!
Day and Night Adventures
For some daytime adventures, take the subway to Brooklyn and visit the Brooklyn Museum to view Judy Chicago's, “The Dinner Party” installation artwork.
As the sun goes down, get tickets for a Broadway show. “Come from Away” is extraordinary! And for the clubbers, the hottest places with DJ’s in the Bowery area are The Public Rooftop and Garden, Mr. Purple, and Hotel Chantelle.
Lastly, should you be staying at the Mandarin, don’t forget to sign up to be a Fan of MO for upgrades and amazing amenities. You can also contact the concierge to get you into all of these fun places. And don’t forget The Office, NYC restaurant inside the hotel. It’s definitely easy to miss.
