New York State of Mind

This past week I took New York by storm. Literally. I marched through business meetings, stomped through slush and snow and sashayed down a fashion runway! Ha! No, that part I'm joking about, but I wish! It was NY fashion week and models were everywhere! Fashion shows are primarily invite-only, but if you'd like to know the inside tips on how to get access to one - just ask!

I had a great trip, but the frosty weather sure took a toll on me. On this recent business slash pleasure trip to NYC there were five key things I used to combat the extreme dryness of my skin, hair and throat due to the weather.

These are the things that saved me:

  1. Brazilian Leg Gloss – My entire body was scaly (nice visual, I know) from hands to toes and the only thing that kept it smooth and moisturized was this natural and pure essential oil home-infused by the experts at Kate Logan Beauty.  Truly a magical gloss!
  2. Lip Rescue Therapy Lip Balm – Not only did I apply this on my lips at least five times a day, I also used it to calm down my staticky strands of hair! The static electricity of my hair was annoying to say the least so I mostly wore my hair in a pony to alleviate my fly aways. This lip balm totally works in a pinch and I always carry it in my "R" essential bag. Need a customized bag of your own? Just ask!
  3. Ricola Throat Drops – These helped the tickl-a in my throat. I like the original herb flavor. And as a bonus, the lozenges also helped soothe my sore throat caused by the severely dry air. Ouch!
  4. H20 – Water in layman's terms. I suggest bringing a bottle of water wherever you go. In your purse, your briefcase, your car, your backpack, wherever! Water hydrates your entire body and gives you energy along the way. Don't leave home without it! Drink. Water. Now!
  5. Skin Moisturizer – Make sure to have plenty of it for both face and hands. Skip powders and matte foundation, unless you want to look 10 years older. Ha! Keep a dewy look by refreshing your skin at least three times a day. Use a tinted moisturizer if you need better coverage on your face. And always use a moisturizer with sunscreen or apply sunscreen as well. On this trip I used Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50 by SkinCeuticals. The reflection off the snow increases the UV rays to your skin and is highly damaging. For my “crackly” dry hands, I couldn’t get enough of my hand cream by L’Occitane. One other moisturizer I couldn’t live without in the Big Apple was Relastin Eye Silk Zinc Firming Complex for my eye area. If you’d like me to create a skin moisturizing “R” essential bag for your specific needs, just ask!

Those are my tried and true finds that I actually used every day cruising the city streets of Manhattan. No matter if a Nor'easter hits the city or it's as humid as heck, in my opinion, New York is fun and fashionable in any type of weather. Just be prepared!
