After Theatre Wine Bars in New York

Woo! I finally made it to the Bruce Springsteen Broadway show at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York. I basically grew up listening to Bruce while dancing to Rosalita in my friend’s living room. Ha! He’s the Boss, what can I say? To no one’s disappointment, he was en pointe. It wasn’t your typical Springsteen concert, as the E street band wasn’t strumming alongside him. It was just Bruce, his guitar and his piano solo on stage. Patti did make an appearance, but it was all about stories that Bruce recounts and then beautifully sings and plays his guitar or piano. He brought me to tears several times. Just go see him if you’re a Springsteen fan! He will not disappoint.

After the show, we wanted to keep the fun going. In walking distance from the Kerr Theatre was a small wine bar called, Aldo Sohm Wine Bar. It’s right next to the chi-chi Le Bernardin Restaurant and that’s where Aldo comes in. He is the sommelier at the restaurant and guests encouraged him to open up his own wine bar. It’s a cool space with great wines and small bites, but it closes early for NY standards. After our quick glass of wine and bite of cheese, we went off to another recommended wine bar in the Soho district, Compagnie Des Vins Surnaturels

As we opened the door, I felt like I was entering into a sexy Parisian bar. The Euro vibe was amazing. When I heard French speaking bartenders and guests and I knew I had hit the jackpot. The champagne and wines were primarily all from various French regions. I didn’t even recognize some of the French champagnes (I know that’s hard for you to believe. Ha!). So, I went with the sommelier’s recommendation for a rosé champagne. It was delish. As it was getting into the wee hours of the morning, several of the people who came in were also sommeliers. Another dream come true! I sat at the bar, drank rose champagne and spoke French to sommeliers. It doesn’t get any better than that! Oh, I probably danced a little bit, too. Ha!
