Have you ever built a bonfire on the beach? It’s not easy! It takes organization and a little bit of elbow grease. So, roll up those sleeves and start collecting wood—because most beaches are BYOW FYI. Ha!
Before you make bonfire party plans, it’s a good idea to check with your local beaches to see which are available for bonfires. In the San Fransisco Bay Area, the only beaches for a contained fire are Ocean Beach and Muir Beach, but keep a good eye on your Spare the Air days so you don’t get fined.
The best thing about a bonfire is roasting marshmallows with family and friends. But more importantly, it’s about making delicious s’mores! Yum! I have some great ideas for making all different kinds of s’mores to really wow your guests. If you’d like other fun bonfire recipes, Just Ask!

Graham Crackers (classic and chocolate)
Homemade chocolate chip cookies
Sugar cookies
Oreo cookies
Sliced strawberries
Raspberries
Sliced bananas

Heath bars
Reese’s peanut butter cups (mini or regular size)
Dark chocolate bars

Sticks or long skewer sticks for roasting the marshmallows
Napkins or wet wipes for those sticky fingers
To-go containers for your family and friends to bring home their uneaten creations
Directions
Place one or two marshmallows (depending on the size of the marshmallow) on a stick.
Roast to your liking.
Then, the fun begins by choosing whichever cracker or cookie meets your fancy.
Slide your toasted marshmallow off the stick and onto a cracker or cookie.
Quickly place your favorite chocolate, candies or fruit on top of the hot marshmallow and top with another cracker or cookie.
Gently press your s’more sandwich together to help everything melt into a yummy treat. Mmm!
I love the classic graham cracker, marshmallow and milk chocolate square for my s’more but I also love peppermint patties. So for a fun twist, I would switch out the milk chocolate for the peppermint patty. Which combination would you like to try?
Be creative!
