Happy almost Valentine’s day! If you’re not quite ready or need some suggestions, have no fear – I have a great recipe AND a great gift idea! And frankly, you don’t need a holiday or an event for either of these to WOW a loved one.
Who doesn’t get excited after hearing the “pop” of a champagne cork? All I can think of is C.E.L.E.B.R.A.T.E.— no matter what the day or occasion is.
Below is a stylish drink recipe to celebrate with champagne. It’s called the Passionate French 75. I learned how to make a French 75 after taking a mixology class at a nice resort. I tweaked the recipe a little and here’s my concoction:
Ingredients:
1/2 oz Passionfruit purée (you can find this in most liquor or grocery stores)
1/2 oz Vanilla liqueur
1/2 oz Simple syrup
Veuve Clicquot Rose Champagne
Grated orange zest and a mint sprig for a stylish garnish
Instructions:
To make a simple syrup, which is “simply” 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup hot water, combine both in a bowl and stir until all the sugar has dissolved. Then let it cool completely.
Now, combine the passionfruit purée, the vanilla liqueur and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a good quality red or white wine glass, not a flute.
Top with Veuve Clicquot Rosé champagne and garnish with a zest of orange and a sprig of mint.
Bubbly side note: A great champagne needs to be preserved and allowed room to breathe. A flute is the “go to” iconic glass for bubbly, but I’m now more drawn to a white wine glass.
Now that you’ve got a great drink to serve, what about a gift? The gift suggestion I have this year is comfy Eberjey’s! The slouchy pants and t-shirts are some of the most comfortable loungewear I’ve ever found. Love, love, love!
So slip on your Eberjey’s, sip your Clicquot and have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
