Robin Laub, a Life Stylist

Clean, Mean and Lean—Part 2

As the New Year continues, I’ve been ramping up my health and wellness regimens for less stress and more positive energy. In Part 1 of this series, I reviewed my experience with celebrity meal delivery service, Sakara. For Part 2, I’m focusing on more ways to embrace a healthier lifestyle.

As a Christmas gift to my son, I gave him the new Tom Brady book called, TB12 Method. We gloat over the G.O.A.T. here, so I read it first. Ha! I learned some great health and wellness tips from Tom, who’s not only physically fit, but mentally fit as well. HIs positive mindset is impressive!

Thanks to Tom’s book, here are five new things I’m trying to incorporate into my lifestyle this year:

1.    Drinking a lot of water WITH electrolytes. It’s amazing how much less fatigued I am throughout the day because of the electrolytes. I bought the concentrate that Tom recommends—it’s great for hydration! I also drink Emergen-C, which has electrolytes and a host of other vitamins.

2.    Not drinking water with my meals. I learned that this is better for digestion. Drinking water during a meal will dilute the digestive juices. Instead, drink water 30 minutes before and one hour after eating a meal to better absorb the nutrients. I can hear my stomach churning and gurgling and now my digestion has improved!

3.    Wear Under Armour bioceramic sleepwear. Yes, I mean it. I swear by these incredibly soft and fashionable pj’s. Coupled with the athletic recovery sheets, my first night with all of this was one of the best night’s sleep ever. Sweet dreams, Tommy. Ha! If you’d like help putting together a pj wardrobe or stylish bedding, Just Ask!

4.    Try not to eat after 7:30 p.m. This can eventually help you get rid of your late-night cravings and regulate your daily calorie intake.

5.    Eat less dairy. Well, sorry, this ain’t gonna happen because I love my yogurt. Ha!

And, here are five things he suggests that I was already working on (great minds think alike ha!):

1.    Sustain a sleep regimen. Like TB, I try to go to bed at 9pm and wake up at 6am. It’s not great for my social life, but a great sleep never felt so good! I’ve always been a morning person, so I typically get up and workout.

2.    Drink kombutcha for a probiotic boost. I like ginger berry flavor or some of the Revive Kombucha flavors.

3.    Get regular massages. I’m currently on the search for a good masseuse who knows how to focus on pliability techniques.

4.    Taking soothing Epsom Salt baths and drinking Calm with liquid Vitamin D drops. Okay, TB didn’t mention any of this in his book, but I’m still going to work on it. Ha!

5.    Ditch eggs. No way! I love my egg sandwiches. Sorry, Tom.

Here’s to a successful, stress-free 2018!

And...Go get em' on Sunday, Tommy! Good Luck Patriots!
