Robin Laub, a Life Stylist

Fly Light

I crave adventure and traveling to amazing places. It’s my type of lifestyle. So, that’s why it’s so important to pack the right stuff for any type of travel whether it’s for luxury travel, adventure travel or just a weekend journey.

I have to be choosy about what I pack when taking a trip. Especially if I simply plan to bring a carry-on. Then, I need to be extra strategic as to what I pack. I think way ahead of time before a trip regarding which outfits and accessories I should pack and plan out every outfit and accessory for each day. I know that sounds tedious, but it really helps with successful packing. For all the smaller items such as socks, scarves, tights, etc., I just roll them and put them in my shoes and purses. Watch my video with easy packing tips here.

I think the reason why I’m a pretty good packer is because I’ve traveled a lot. When I was younger, I studied abroad and explored a lot of Europe. Since then, I’ve travelled to other parts of the world. With all of these journeys under my belt, I have a good understanding of how to travel in style.

Here are a few of my best tips for packing light and traveling well:

1) Bring Travel Sizes In Your Carry On

Facial primer and brightener by Jane Iredale

A few packets of Truvia for my coffee (I can’t leave home without it!)

An Advil container with baby aspirin as this is important to take before any flight (ask your doctor)

Cetaphil Ultra Hydrating Lotion for face and hands

SkinCeuticals Resveratrol, an antioxidant night concentrate (for those red-eye flights!)

Visine for the red eyes!

1-Day AcuVue brand contact lenses (enough for 3 days)

A packet of Natural Calm, a relaxing magnesium supplement (perfect for travel!)

Tums in assorted fruit flavor for after a bumpy ride

lolliLint, a tinted lip and cheek stain by Benefit (I like the color candy orchid as it brightens up my face after a long flight)

Glide dental floss

Cologne by Jo Malone (I’m loving the Peony & Blush Suede scent)

Waterproof blister bandaids by Nexcare

Moisturizing renewal eye cream by Révive

And I don’t go anywhere without my Lip Rescue Therapy lip balm, which I also tap around my eyes as moisturizer

2. Make Getting Through Security Easier

My best travel advice and best money spent is the Clear enrollment with a tap of a finger, which allows me to bypass the security line at the airport as well as the TSA PreCheck enrollment for domestic travel. If you fly internationally often, I highly recommend applying for a Global Entry Card. Or, if you travel maybe once or twice a year internationally, download the Mobile Passport app for speeding through U.S. Customs. Unfortunately, not all airports have Clear or Mobile Passport. Check ahead before you enroll.

3. High-tech Necessities

I always have my iPhone, maybe laptop and Kindle for my enjoyment and I never forget a myCharge battery pack. My Beats headphones are essential for binge watching (Friday Night Lights! ha!) and for sleeping on planes, too.
