It’s that time of year for bathing suits, shorts, mini skirts and sleeveless tops. Luckily, there’s a lot we can do to prep our body and get into tip top shape. Here are some suggestions that can help you get summer ready:
1) Add Some Color
Start exfoliating your face and entire body to remove all that dry, dead skin so your body can be prepped for a spray tan, or to apply self tanners. I also like using water resistant Airbrush Legs by Sally Hansen. I use the fairest glow and it helps hide any unwanted blemishes. And, best of all, this inexpensive leg makeup can be found at Walgreen’s! For exfoliating my face, I use Micro-exfoliating scrub by SkinCeuticals and Juice Beauty’s Exfoliating Instant Facial. These are mild exfoliants for your delicate face. Body scrubs can be found all over the web, at spa’s and skincare salons and even drugstores, but I tend to use the scrub by Tata Harper. It smells so good!
2) Go to A Pro
Visit a skin care specialist like Rituals Aesthetic Skincare and get a treatment of Celluma LED Light Therapy for your face, neck and décolletage. Couple that treatment with a micro current treatment and your fine lines will magically disappear! Not really, but it helps dramatically if you include a facial mask, serums and moisturizers. Your face will thank you in a few years! And when you're on an airplane, plop on some eye gel pads by Le Mieux. Who cares if the hot guy in the seat next to you sees this. Ha!
3) Get Some Exercise
No surprise here! Take a new class or pick up golf like I am and walk the course. Now’s the perfect time to bring out those cute golf skirts and sleeveless tops! Run outside or challenge yourself by running a 5K. Swim in the ocean and play tennis on your next vacation. And don’t forget your SPF. For me, Pure Barre is what has refined my body to where I like it. It’s a difficult class, but once you go a few times in a row, you’ll be hooked! But check with your doctor first if any ailments that are bothering you will be exacerbated by this type of core workout.
4) Eat Healthy
Again, no surprise! But seriously, try to eat whole organic foods such as veggies, fruits, nuts and eggs. Try a plant-based diet, too. The fried and processed foods are not good for your gut, your skin or your mental state. I'm hooked on Sakara’s breakfasts!
5) Drink Up
Drink liquids that will detox your body such as Kombucha and add apple cider vinegar in your morning detox tea. Drink plenty of water with extra electrolytes added in. I know when I’m well hydrated I don’t get the sluggish feeling I once did at 3p.m. and then would be craving for a pick me up like chocolate or a coffee. Try hydrating more and let me know if this works for you. It has worked for me so I’m sticking with it! Go TB12!
6) Pucker Up
Wear a pretty lip balm or lip stick. I’ve recently purchased a super-soft lip stick by Blush & Whimsy that looks clear but changes color based on your body’s pH and temperature of your skin. It’s remarkable and this lipstick lasts, too!
7) Go Shoe Shopping
Some of my favorite summer shoes are Toms sneakers in blush, Tory Burch flip flops and pink car shoes!
