If you’re like me, you’re already planning your 2022 travel. I have just the place that you must include on your list. It’s the quaint mountain resort founded by “Bob” Redford called, Sundance. It’s a truly picturesque place.
I’ve always heard about the Sundance Film Festival and have visited Park City for skiing but never ventured to this intimate mountain resort until I was asked by a dear friend if I would like to attend an Author Series and listen to Rick McIntyre speak about wolves. Wolves? Me? Oh yeah, I’m all over the Yellowstone wolves now. Ha! Especially Wolf 21 and Wolf 42. Read the book series and you’ll understand exactly what I’m talking about. I’ll definitely be venturing back for his next book talk and even hire him to scope out those wolves in Yellowstone. Need any helpful hints? Just Ask!
The Sundance Resort is more than a ski resort near Provo, Utah. It’s also an art community surrounded by an environment of preserved beautiful nature for those who appreciate mindfulness and culture. Let’s talk about the rooms. I stayed in the Mountain loft in River Run. (Of course, I did! Ha!) These are the largest at the resort with a kitchen, master bedroom, and a loft for those daring enough to climb up the steep ladder. It has a charming woodsy decor and it’s within a short walking distance to the ski lifts, hiking paths, and other cultural amenities.
The various activities that a guest can enjoy include all of the athletic outdoorsy undertakings you’d expect in a ski town, but it also includes art projects you can do! In the Art Shack they have jewelry making, pottery classes, painting, and more. I opted to get pampered and go to the spa to get a Gemstone and Energy Balancing Massage. I think I literally floated out of the Spa at Sundance. Ask for Tiana. In addition, meditation and yoga are free for guests each morning in a yurt before your daily adventures.
Let’s talk about dining at the resort for a bit. Start off in the restored 1890’s bar called The Owl Bar for a cocktail or sip of champagne before dinner. It’s a place where guests AND locals come to eat and drink. They even say it was frequented by Butch Cassidy. After your dinner at the Tree Room, one of the renowned restaurants in Utah, or the Foundry Grill, go back to The Owl Bar for a nightcap and some live music. Extraordinary!
And for all of you shoppers, the General Store and gift store will certainly have something to fancy your desires. Don’t forget to buy their famous lollipops!
Sundance is unforgettable. Plan to arrive and leave with a beautiful piece of mind.
