Over the holidays I was cooking a fair amount like I’m sure you were too. Luckily, a very good friend of mine gave me spices as a gift that I continue to use on many types of meat, poultry, and seafood. These rubs and seasonings are made by a company called, The Spice House. It was a great gift!
Spices and rubs really help flavor dishes and make them more interesting. I love that they can really change a dish with just a little sprinkle. As your life stylist, I can’t recommend using spices and rubs enough. Need some advice on which ones to use? Just Ask!
My Spicy Tips:
A rub called, “Back of the Yards,” is a garlic and pepper combo that I used when I sautéed zucchini flowers and spears and it was a huge family hit. I keep these spices in a small ramekin on the stove and toss on all types of dishes.
“The Lake Shore Drive,” is a seasoning of shallots and herbs, which works beautifully with shrimp. Simply add some olive oil to the pan, drop in the shrimp, sprinkle the seasoning and you have a wonderful meal in minutes.
The “Bicentennial” game rub is perfect for duck, chicken, and pork. Just rub it on, roast, and baste. Yum!
Spice away!
