The Many Sides of Robin - Part VII

Last but not least and probably the most important of my lifestyle services, this side of Robin is called, The Organizer.

In this photo, as The Organizer, you’ll see that I’m holding my handy, dandy organizer. I never leave home without it. If I do lose it, I’m doomed. Ha! No, I have other task management software on the computer and on my phone that keeps me super duper organized!

The funny part about my organizational side is that I actually enjoy living in the moment, but I do it by staying organized and remaining relatively stress-free. Solitude and planning go hand in hand.

If I didn’t have organizational skills, time management, or attention to detail, my lifestyle services would have never taken off the ground. This commitment to organization stems from my prior years as Assistant Vice President of International Operations at the then called company, Wells Fargo Nikko Investment Advisors. It was at this very job that we were all encouraged to attend the Franklin Time Management seminar to learn how to better manage our time and to learn how to be better organized. We were all given a binder known as The Franklin Planner with various tools of how to manage your time from hour-to-hour, day-to-day, and month-to-month. Lucky for you, you won’t have to read through the binder. Instead, I’ll share with you what I learned:

  1. Each day on your calendar, create a daily task list with boxes next to each task.
  2. Prioritize each daily task with an A, B, or C. “A” being top priority and “C” being low priority.
  3. After each task has been completed, you check the box. Done! This is incredibly fulfilling!
  4. If you were unable to perform that task, then you’d place a forward arrow denoting that the task will be accomplished on a different day. At this time, it’s important to write that same task on the following day.
  5. If there is a task that is no longer important or needed to complete, then cross it off with a big fat X! I love when I can do that!
  6. If a task is in the process of being completed (for example, you made the phone call but you didn’t get a response yet) but other steps are still needed to get a full completion check, then simply put an enclosed circle denoting that the task is still being worked on.
  7. At the end of the day, each task MUST have a check, an X, or a forwarded arrow.

And there you have it! This is what I do EVERY day in order to stay organized. Call me a geek but it works! I can help you get organized, too. Just Ask! Remember to take just 15 minutes each day for some solitude and planning.

For those who would like to know more about the outfit I’m wearing in the photo, it is a blue cotton Chanel-look-alike dress by Rebecca Taylor. I’m wearing Prada grey wedges and use my glasses on my head as a headband. Simple yet chic.
