Robin Laub, a Life Stylist

Patio Tips

It’s August, which means summer is in full swing. So, why not entertain on your back deck or patio and decorate it with style?

As your life stylist, I have some nifty ideas to spruce up your outdoor seating areas.

1) Keep it clean

One always needs a great doormat for entering the front of the house and for exiting into the backyard or back patio. I highly recommend perusing Frontgate to find the designs that suit your style. The type that I like the best are the monogrammed mats with a more rugged fiber for wiping your shoes clean of any debris. They don’t feel great on your bare toes but it beats vacuuming and cleaning a ton.

2) Get toasty

If you don’t already have an outdoor heater, now’s a good time to get one. Eating al fresco is always the best way to dine with a warm heater near your patio table on a cooler evening which makes it all that special. But, if you live in a warmer state like Texas, you might want to skip this one. Ha!

3) Light it up

What’s also snazzy are some decorative lanterns placed in the corners of your deck or patio. I love the variety that Dedon offers. You can even order remote-ready control candles with timers to turn on and off. Not to be lazy or anything, but it’s quite a nice feature.

4) Go green

Add a colorful, large planter with big ferns or extra-large bird of paradise plants sprouting up. Make your back deck or patio your personal oasis! If you’d like some help, Just Ask!

5) Add some art

Art isn't just for inside your home. Add some garden sculptures or beautiful pieces of art sprinkled around your property. You don’t need a lot of lawn or backyard to capture the beauty of a bronze sculpture or even a Buddha statue.

Keep enjoying these August moments!
