In my mind, Carmel is one of the most beautiful places in all of California. Luckily for me, I recently had the opportunity to plan a rustic, chic dinner party for a client there.
As my stomping grounds are particularly in the San Francisco, Hillsborough, and Atherton areas, Carmel was new to me in regards to venues, catering and rental companies. Which meant I had a lot of fun research to do!
I love working on projects like these, even when I don’t have a clue as to who the best people are to use for an event. It’s a welcome challenge putting everything together.
To prepare, I had the hard task of driving along the beautiful ocean scape to Carmel these past few months to command my due diligence. Boy, do I have a slew of reliable resources now!
The venue was easy to find as it was held at the majestic home of a renowned professional athlete, a dear friend of one of my fabulous clients.
The catering company that we hired was beyond fantastic. Paradise Catering is a two-partner kitchen with a tremendous staff that served a delectable array of farm-to-table food. One of the owners, the chef, in fact, came up to me during the evening and said, “Robin, you have to try these dandy little cherry tomatoes that I just picked from our garden.” Can I tell you that these little cherries were so sweet like candy? An unbelievable party in my mouth!
That little tomato was just a teaser of what the caterer was all about. They also introduced me to the concept of a strolling reception, which went hand in hand with our casual, chic theme.
The beautiful location plus the delicious food and theme all worked together to seamlessly create a party that truly impressed. It was another one for the books!

Hot Hotel Tip: I stayed at La Playa Carmel off the fun and fashionable Ocean Street where the boutiques and cafés are bountiful. It is also walking distance to the beach. This is an ideal getaway spot!
