As Dr. Andrew Menkes stated in my past blog post, “There are a lot of good brands of sunscreens and I prefer sunscreens with primarily zinc oxide at least 14% and titanium dioxide 6-8%. The brands that can micronize these elements into small particles and add a tinter are the ones I prefer so they are cosmetically acceptable and not messy and greasy.”
Personally, I apply sunscreen to all exposed parts of my body on a daily basis. Especially now that we can play golf again, I slather on the stuff. Ha!
There are three sunscreen lotions that I use interchangeably:
- CounterSun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion is a new BeautyCounter product I’ve been using. I apply on my neck, décolletage, shoulders, arms, and legs. This is SPF 30. I’ll also use it on my face, but I tend to like using a tinted moisturizer or a tinted sunscreen instead.
- Alastin Skincare HydratTint Pro Mineral Broad Spectrum Sunscreen is what I primarily use on my face as it has an SPF 36. It’s water-resistant, but you’ll need to reapply after 40 minutes.
- Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 is what I typically use over the CounterSun Mineral Sunscreen for coverage and color.
I stand by using sunscreen every single day on my face, neck, and décolletage especially if I’ve exfoliated my skin as rubbing off that protective layer of skin is much more susceptible to the strong UV rays.
