With Valentine’s Day only a month away, it’s time to get a jump start on making reservations at a restaurant, a hotel or wherever your heart leads you. If you’re having trouble thinking of the perfect location, I have a few great ideas.
If you live in the Bay Area, or even if you don’t, venture up to the Wine Country! It’s the perfect time to go on a winery escape! Even for the day, if you live in Northern California, it’s just as fun. Remember to have a designated driver if you’re going to taste the fine wines that are scattered around Napa, the Sonoma Coast and other terrific wine regions in Northern California.
I recommend staying in Yountville or at least eating at some of the finest restaurants located right on Washington Street in Yountville. I suggest you make reservations toute de suite at one of these romantic spots:
1. French Laundry
2. Bouchon Bistro
3. Bistro Jeanty
4. Redd
5. Bottega
6. Redd Wood
If you can spend the night, Hotel Yountville is quite a treat. The rooms are exquisite and the property has a beautiful outdoor pool and hot tub with blazing fireplaces on the patio. Comfy chairs and beds are abundant for you to lounge on. It’s truly a magnificent find and they even have a complimentary wine tasting each afternoon if you didn’t get enough at the wineries. ;)
I also recommend visiting a winery with a gorgeous panoramic setting, called Cade Winery. It is definitely “in the sticks” but worth the drive. But if you'd prefer not to drive, hire Napa Valley Wine Transportation. At the winery, you’ll be greeted by a host holding a bottle of wine and glasses to take with you on your private tour and Cave tasting. Reservations are required for this ultimate wine experience.
Another spot I recommend visiting is the Alpha Omega winery, which has a nice outdoor seating area, and the Cab is divine! Join their wine club, too!
