As a Californian (not native but I think you know that!), sunshine is normally in the forecast. Every day I apply sunscreen but I use a different sunscreen for different parts of the body. I’m well versed in Sunscreen 101, so if you have questions Just Ask!
I’ve had some past faves, but here are my 3 favorites today. :)
For The Face — HydraTint Pro Mineral Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 36 by Alastin Skincare
Normally, I tend to use regular white zinc oxide facial sunscreen but this product just gives me a little bit more color. My favorite tinted moisturizer with SPF 35 used to be a Bobbie Brown product but it was discontinued. I was at the dermatologist’s office and the assistant suggested I use this SPF 36 sunscreen with a touch of tint. I like it! It smooths on nicely and I don’t have those blotchy white spots from using the “white stuff.” It’s also water-resistant but needs to be reapplied every 40 minutes. What I like most about it is that it doesn’t rub off that quickly on your clothes, collars, etc. I tend to mix a bit of my facial lotion with this so I can massage it evenly over my face. I know this seems so high maintenance for applying sunscreen but we all know that sunscreen is ESSENTIAL.
For the Arms and Legs — Organic Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 by Coola
This is SPF 50 and organic. They say it’s “farm to face.” I love that phrase! It’s also fragrance-free so you don’t end up smelling like coconut. Although some people love that “odor.” Ha! The antioxidant ingredients include various oils and extracts and it’s vegan, too. There’s something for everyone!
For Your Purse — Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush-On Shield SPF 50 by colorescience
This is a compact brush applicator with SPF 50 and it’s water-resistant. I was given this as a gift and love to brush it on my forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin — all the places where the sun hits the most. It’s an easy and clean way to apply sunscreen in a pinch.
For Your Toes — Baking Soda and Lotion
This secret combo is what my mother recommended when sunbathing at the beach. Take a tsp of baking soda and a squirt of your favorite lotion and rub the mixture together and put it all around your toes. Believe it or not, people forget to put sunscreen on their toes and they can burn from the sun, too! If you believe that, you’ll believe anything. April Fools’!
These sunscreens will provide a happy and healthy lifestyle. Sans the baking soda concoction! Ha!
Stay safe!
