For this week’s Report, I’m thrilled to highlight one of my favorite fine jewelry designers, Russell Trusso.
Five years ago, when I was turning a very special age, a good friend of mine encouraged me to shop at Gumps in San Francisco for a spectacular piece of fine jewelry. It would be a birthday gift to myself. I’d never bought a piece of “real” jewelry for myself, so this was a huge step!
I already had a dress for my birthday party, but not the right jewelry, so off we went to Gumps. My friend brought me right over to the Russell Trusso jewelry case and I immediately saw a unique brooch/necklace. It was the most spectacular gold chrysanthemum brooch made of white freshwater pearls with a pink tourmaline cabochon and pink and lavender sapphires. I had to have it!
The extraordinary piece can be worn as a pendant or as a choker with a short gold chain. I chose to wear it as a choker with my fun and fashionable birthday dress. Talk about putting some Wow into your Now! It’s a real statement piece that always reminds me of how special I am at this ripe age. Ha!
Several years later, I bought a pair of fabulous blue topaz and diamond dangly earrings from the same incredibly creative jewelry designer. The 18k white gold chandelier earrings feature blue topaz and diamonds in prong settings. Breathtaking!
The beauty about Russell Trusso’s jewelry is that you can wear his pieces with virtually any outfit, whether it's jeans and a t-shirt or an evening gown. It’s anytime, anywhere type of jewelry for all ages! I can’t wait to add another Trusso design to my collection.
